Why Cleanse?Cleansing is a healthy form of routine maintenance allowing your digestive system and the liver the rest they need in order to release accumulated toxins. At the same time, you will be flooding your system with organic, easy to digest, liquid nutrition filled with ‘living’ enzymes and vitamins. By increasing the organic and raw juices you consume while eliminating processed sugars, coffee, meat, and too much cooked food, you shift from an acidic interior to an alkaline one which will reduce inflammation and boost immunity and health. The Raw Place offers a selection of full-day and half-day detox packages based on levels of intensity. You also have the option to build your own cleanse and to supplement a detox with our salads and foods. The key to a successful cleanse is what you leave out of your diet, not what juice formulas or magic tricks you try to mix in. The more you leave out, the more improvement in your overall chemistry occurs. A cleanse may benefit you if you: Are bloated or puffy after eating Find yourself addicted to caffeine, sugary or fried foods Have a few stubborn kilos to lose Find your skin has lost its ‘glow’ Feel mentally foggy Have joint pain, stiffness or headaches Suffer from reoccurring colds or chest infections Are having trouble sleeping

How it Works? The Raw Place detoxes are designed to be convenient; we want you to be able to cleanse in conjunction with your everyday life. Here’s how: You will replace your meals and caffeinated drinks with five delicious organic, cold-pressed juices, and one smooth non-dairy milk. You will drink plenty of water, herbal teas, get plenty of rest, and add in complimentary activities like yoga, walking, swimming, or spa treatments. You do nothing else and let the juice, and your body, do the work. Freeing your body from the task of digesting solid food and instead of receiving hyper nutrition from the earth’s most nutrient-rich plant food, our raw juices will help your body gently shed toxins and excess weight. After this clean and lean diet you will feel lighter, more energized, focused, and vibrant.

What does cold pressed juice mean?Cold pressing is proven to be the most effective way to free the nutritional enzymes from the fibers of the produce. Cold pressing delivers the maximum, best tasting juice extraction from the least amount of produce. A method of juicing invented by Norman Walker in 1932, cold pressing has two separate juice extraction machines built in; the pulverizer and the hydraulic press. The pulverizer cuts down solid produce by shredding it into a pulp. This breaks open the fibers and frees the nutrients and enzymes from within. The second phase of the press is to place the pulp in a cotton cloth and literally squeeze it using the flat hydraulic press. Because the press does not force air into the juice during pressing, the juice does not decay as fast as with other methods of juice extraction.
-
Why we cold-press our juice? Our hydraulic cold press method of juice extraction provided a minimum mixing of air with the juice, resulting in very slow oxidation or decomposition. The tremendous pressure exerted by our juice press gently and completely extracts the live enzymes, vitamins, trace minerals, and natural fruit sugars. Cold pressing is a method of juicing that enables juice to be bottled (without preservatives) and still maintain a four day shelf life.
-
Why don't we use rotary machines?Rotary machines emit heat to the fruits and vegetables while juicing, therefore oxidizing the juice very quickly, and making the juice less nutritious. Cold pressing, on the other hand, does not emit any heat to the fruits and vegetables as they are being juiced. Hence, the juice retains up to seven (7) times more nutrients than juice produced with a rotary machine, and the juice maintains all of the nutrients and enzymes for up to four days, provided it is stored in temperature below 5 C. We do not use conventional or rotary machines because they don’t extract juice with the same efficiency as cold pressing. Cold pressing extracts more juice from produce, especially low-yielding greens like kale or parsley. Rotary machines force air into the juice during extraction causing it to decompose rapidly and lose nutrients and enzymes. Because our juices are cold pressed, they can be bottled and refrigerated with little to no loss loss of nutrients, and living enzymes. Our juice is fresher and more nutritious than any other juice on the market.

How important are calories? This is a very common concern for a lot of people. The first thing to consider is the source of the calories. Processed foods vs. raw plant based unprocessed foods. The unprocessed foods are packed with nutrients that feed you, whereas processed foods not only are often poor source of nutrients, they’re toxic! Because nutrition is more than just calories, it’s important to look at the whole picture when assessing the value of a food or beverage. We believe calorie counting is outdated. If your diet consists primarily of processed foods and you have a weight problem, your primary dietary goal should be the restriction of calories. But no matter where you take this obsession, you cannot achieve optimal health unless there is a shift in focus. The primary goal should be the restriction of processed foods. You cannot cause obesity and illness in a healthy and clean body that is consuming a diet consisting of vegetation in the form of fruits, vegetable, nuts, sprouts, and seeds. The clean body uses calories efficiently. The clean body stops eating when full. Very few food addicts binge on vegetables. They generally reach for stimulating foods such as refined starchy carbs, over-cooked dead food, fried saturated fat, concentrated protein, as well as outright poisons such as processed salt, sugar, and white flour. Calories from these substances will clog the digestive system. The calories question is complex. The highest degree of knowledge dictates that if you consume calories from raw foods in an unprocessed form, eliminate processed foods, and clean the digestive system, you should slowly lose weight, or at worst maintain a healthy weight without the risk of obesity–no matter how much you consume. This challenges everything you’ve heard about calories in, energy out. We are not saying you can eat 4,000 calories of raw oatmeal and not gain weight. There is a limit to how far you can challenge physics. We are saying that raw food calories matter less than processed food calories and certainly affect the body differently. If you want to accomplish weight loss or weight maintenance ( which is the only reason we’ve become a calorie-conscious culture), and if you want to add optimal health to your life, you need to focus on the following things in equal measure: Eliminate processed foods; Reduce animal protein intake down to a max of three days a week or eliminate it completely; Avoid dairy at all costs; Do not eat too late; Combine foods properly, (no starches and proteins together); Drink more raw green juices; Create a reasonable diet plan that you can live with and stick with it. We believe that raw juices are the best fuel for our body. Consuming them will make us more efficient (biologically) and we’ll need fewer calories to get better nutrition. Introducing raw, cold pressed juices to our diet as an everyday habit is a fabulous remedy to counter the toxins we encounter. Green juices neutralize acids and all raw juices make it easier to maintain blood alkalization. We recommend drinking as much juice as possible each and every day. Drinking juice and maintaining a sensible diet that excludes processed food is a step in the right direction towards optimal health. Additionally, research shows that drinking 100% juice is associated with a more nutritious diet overall. Studies suggest that appropriate consumption of 100% juice is linked to an overall healthier eating pattern, including reduced intake of total dietary fat, saturated fat, and added sugars.

Our pricing model? The Raw Place is charging a fair market price for the items we produce. Genuine organic ingredients and non-pasteurized products are pricey to procure and to maintain. The only way to produce our product for less money is to use conventional, cheaper quality produce instead of organic, high quality types of produce.
-
How long our products last? We’re proud to have the freshest produce around. We don’t use preservatives or pasteurization to extend the shelf life of our products. Unpasteurized juice and raw foods have a short shelf life that varies based on the ingredients. Production and expiration dates are provided on all of our products.
-
We do we use plastic bottles? Our bottles are recyclable and BPA free. BPA is controversial because it exerts weak but detectable hormone-like properties. This raises concern about its presence in consumer products and foods contained in such products. Our bottles are made from PET plastic which does not contain BPA anywhere in its chemical composition. We don’t heat anything. We don’t use microwaves. And we don’t boil or soak bottles in high temperatures. We hate contributing to the world’s pollution problem. Plastic is terrible. But rotating thousands of glass bottles through small production facilities is neither commercially viable nor is it any more environmentally friendly (think of the logistics!)

What is our food safety management system?Food Safety is our top priority. We are ISO 22000 certified which is an international standard intended to be used by organizations within the food chain. It contains traditional quality assurance preventive measures plus preventive food-safety measures. The purpose of ISO 22000 is to provide a practical approach to ensure the reduction and elimination of food safety risks as a means to protect our customers.

Why we use specialty coffee? The journey coffee travels from a planted seed to your cup is long and complicated. There are multiple stages during which it can be ruined, and even one ruined coffee bean can turn pot of speciality coffee into bitter tasting regular cat piss. Yes, let’s make it clear at the start. In todays’ coffee production ‘regular’ is often a sneaky synonym for bad quality, lack of sustainability and transparency. In return, this means for an unpleasant experience through bad taste and a not so great feeling. Conversely, most cases of speciality coffee mean for guaranteed quality through all stages of the coffee production from process from seed to cup. Besides the taste, one of the major differences between the two is that speciality coffee is actually good for you in more ways than just taste. You’ve probably read studies about the health benefits of coffee ranging from reduced risk to diabetes, Alzheimers, dementia to preventing various cancers, but remember, even an overdose of the good stuff can lead to some less than wanted effects (e.g. ruining your sleep pattern). However, drinking regular often has worse side effects and affects both your entire system from head to stomach.

What is Cold Brewed Coffee?Deceptively simple, cold water brewing extracts the delicious flavor compounds (and some of the caffeine) from coffee beans, but leaves behind myriad bitter oils and biting fatty acids, including undesirable elements such as ketones, esters and amides. There are many unique health benefits to drinking cold brew coffee, but here are the most important ones: -Improved Control of Gastric Acid Secretion, (no acid reflux) -Less Acid in Coffee Overall-Increased Amounts of Antioxidants, (Chlorogenic Acid) -Less cafestol and kahweol -Lower caffeine content, (this means you can drink more of it)
